Guided Meditation for Cancer Patients and Caregivers HD

The meditation uses some suggestions for guided meditation from the book Getting Well Again by O. Carl Simonton, M.D. This video begins with over four minutes of information on guided meditation, and then the formal meditation (which is approximately 12 and a half minutes) begins at about the 4:12 mark—if you prefer, feel free to skip the intro and go straight to the meditation. The ringing of meditation chimes indicates the beginning and ending of this meditation. This video also utilizes nature images for those who prefer to meditate with their eyes open. While it’s geared towards cancer patients, this video may also be helpful for caregivers of cancer patients, particularly for cultivating empathy and compassion. Freeing the Neck and Shoulders: Feldenkrais Exercises to Relieve Shoulder and Neck Pain
READ THIS FIRST: Shoulder and neck pain can be very debilitating and is often related to loss of mobility of your chest and rib cage. In this short video Australian Feldenkrais Physiotherapist Jodie Krantz demonstrates a flowing sequence of movements that help you discover feel how the neck, shoulders and chest can function in a more integrated and harmonious way, to bring relief of pain and stiffness. When practicing Feldenkrais exercises here are a few useful tips to increase both the effectiveness and safety of the exercises. 1. Move slowly and smoothy and keep the movements small 2. Do less than you know you can do safely (especially if you have pain) 3. Reduce the effort, let go of tension in your belly, face, eyes, jaw 4. Continue to breathe gently and evenly throughout 5. Free2Move Feldenkrais: Freeing your Hips Part 1
Free your hips and back - gentle movements based on the Feldenkrais Method to help you release tension in the muscles about the hips and pelvis through simple flowing movements, staying in your pain-free range. These movements help to improve the rotation of your hip joints and the way your hips connect with your pelvis, lower back, chest and ribs, all the way up to your head. The movements also bring about a lengthening of the long back muscles which run parallel to your spine, relieving lower back tension. HOW TO GET THE MOST BENEFIT: First watch the video right through. Then lie down on the floor and begin the movements by just listening to the instructions. Close your eyes so you can bring your attention inwards and focus on the sensations in your body. Make each movement slowly, smoothly and mindfully. Reduce effort and tension. Always stay within the easy and 100% comfortable range, no matter how small that is. For those who have moderately severe pain or stiffness in the hip, try keeping one knee bent with the foot on the ground will you move the opposite leg. You can place a folded towel or small cushion under one side of your pelvis too. This will tilt your pelvis TOWARDS the side you are sliding the leg and take some strain off the hip joint and musculature. After some practice you should gradually be able to manage with less propping. Good luck and please leave me your feedback!
